About Griffis Memorial Tournament
The Griffis Memorial Scholarship (a 501 -C3 Charitable Corporation) was formed in 2018 to honor the memory of Jay and John Griffis. Jay dedicated over 35 years with the Bethany Public Schools as a teacher, principal, counselor, administrator, coach and was very instrumental in starting the golf program. John dedicated over 18 years with Bethany Public School, where he taught math, and coached girls’ basketball, girls softball, football and the golf coach. Jay and John were both well loved and touched the lives of countless individuals in the community, and Bethany Public Schools.
The First Griffis Memorial Scholarship took place in June 2018 with the proceeds going to the scholarship funds. The Griffis Memorial Scholarship Tournament continues to be recognized as an outstanding tournament and is enjoyed every year by our golfers. Tournament funds are administered by the Bethany alumni association and the award is presented every year to a deserving student(s).
